Little known fact: Much like AIM FOR THE TOP!/GUNBUSTER, DAINIPPON has a Buckaroo Banzai-esque mythos. According to the liner notes, DAINIPPON was a full 26-episode series, the Daicon short being Episode 3.  Additionally, the team gained two members later on in the form of Ai Totsugeki (lit. “Charge!!”) and Ai Osashimi—Who both appears and dies in the final episode.
